11 drug suspects caught in three raids

Eleven drug suspects have been arrested with 300,000 speed pills and 300kg of compressed marijuana seized from them in separate raids in Bangkok and two other provinces.

The 11 suspects, including nine Thais and two Lao nationals, were taken for a briefing at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) in Bangkok on Saturday, Thai media reported.

In the first raid, drug suppression police arrested three men at a car park of Max Value Phattanakan supermarket in Bangkok’s Suan Luang district after 100,000 speed pills, some crystal methamphetamine pills, two pistols, and four mobile phones were found in their pickup truck, said Pol Lt Gen Rewat Klinkasorn, the NSB commissioner.

The trio were identified as Manas Hunkrajok, Rewat Lorkhunsiam and Nakhonphan Onsrisuk.

In the second operation in Nakhon Sawan province, police manning the Phayuha Khiri checkpoint stopped for a search a suspected car and found 200,006 speed pills hidden inside. Driver Vorakamon Choeythuen was caught.

The suspect confessed he had bought the drugs from an ethnic minority group in a northern border province for sale in Lop Buri.

In the third raid, police arrested Mr Surachit Wilard and six other gang members, including two Lao nationals, at a resort in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Non Sung district and 300kg of compressed marijuana was seized from them.

They were caught after police posing as buyers had contacted Mr Surachit.

Two arrested, 300,000 speed pills, ‘ya ice’ hidden in truck

CHIANG RAI--Two people were arrested and almost 300,000 speed pills and one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, were seized from their truck in Mae Chang district on Sunday morning.

A combined team of police and soldiers stopped a six-wheel truck with a Chiang Rai licence plate at Kiew Thapyang checkpoint in Mae Chan district at around 5am on Sunday. The truck was covered with a tarpaulin.

When the officers pulled back the tarpaulin, they found three fertiliser sacks placed at the right side of an electric generator. The sacks contained 290,000 speed pills and one kg of crystal methamphetamine. Two more speed pills were found under the driver’s seat.

Driver Theerapol Donbua, 34, of Chiang Rai, and his girlfriend Wilaiwan Srisuwan, 20, of Chai Nat, were detained. Mr Theerapol confessed he had been hired for 200,000 baht to deliver the drugs to Muang district in this northern province, while Ms Wilaiwan denied any involvement, claiming she was only his companion.

The pair were handed over to Mae Chan police for legal action.

'Free' meth lands 3 behind bars in Ayutthaya

AYUTTHAYA – A plant dealer who allegedly handed out methamphetamines he discovered in a forest so people could use them to pay off personal debts has been arrested, along with two of the alleged recipients.

Prachuap Kanphet, 41, Pannarai Pinyophol, 25, and Sompong Thayapol, 47, were apprehended and 470,000 ya ba tablets seized on Tuesday, Thai media reported today.

The arrests followed a tip that several bundles of speed pills had been handed out for free in several areas in this central province, Pol Maj Gen Suthi Puangpikul, Ayutthaya police chief, said during a media briefing at Uthai police station.

Police accused Mr Prachuap of giving away the drugs to locals and found 100 speed pills on him.

Follow-up investigation determined that he found several bags containing 700,000 ya ba pills and 10kg of crystal meth while collecting wild plants about 500 metres off Asia Road in tambon Khayai in Bang Pahan district on May 20. The suspect said he saw a man unloading the bags from a pickup truck.

After his arrest, Mr Prachuap led police to the area where he hid the drugs. Four bags containing 470,000 pills were recovered.

Soldiers and police then looked for the recipients of the free speed and nabbed Ms Pannarai and Ms Sompong with some of the drugs. Police said the women confessed to selling some of the free drugs they received.

Others reportedly had destroyed the drugs for fear of being caught, said Pol Maj Gen Suthi.

Mr Prachuap confessed he told close neighbours about the drugs and offered to give the drugs for free to those who wanted money to pay off debts. He had already handed out 230,000 speed pills and 10 kg of crystal meth to 10 residents for free, claimed the man.

He also kept some speed for his own use before being arrested, he said.

Police are investigating the origin of the drugs.

464 suspects arrested, 1.3m yaba pills seized in North

More than 460 suspects were arrested and more than 1 million methamphetamine tablets seized during a week-long police and military assault on drug traffickers in eight northern provinces.

The 464 suspects, including seven accused drug smugglers, were apprehended between May 20 and 26 with some taken to a news conference in Nan province on Thursday.

Seized from them were 1.3 million speed pills, and varying amounts of crystal methamphetamine, heroin, opium and marijuana.

The joint operation also targeted suspects involved in smuggling of illegal military-grade weapons, other crimes and illegal migrant workers. A large number of weapons were seized and also displayed for the media.

Mit Erfolg der Mann wurde verhaftet, weil man in seinem Haus Yabapillen fand.

Ich habe meine Frau gefragt, warum der Ortsvorsteher dies in die Wege geleitet hat. Meine Frau sagte,

weil ihm Geld fuer das Dorf abgezogen wird, sollte die Polizei einen Haftbefehl fuer sein Dorf haben.

Da müsste aber in unseren umliegenden Dörfern ganz massiv Geld abgezogen werden.
Und eine Anzeige würde wohl wenig Erfolg haben. Die Polizeistation des Tambon, die sich in unserem Dorf befindet, ist zu einem grossen Teil mit Einheimischen bestückt...

Das glaube ich dir auch. Ich kann aber nur das schreiben, wie es bei uns hier passiert. Der Ortsvorsteher hat hier auch den Strom abstellen lassen, bei Leuten die mit Drogen handelten, dass ist kein Witz. Er hat auch schon ueber den Lautsprecher verkuendet, dass jeder Haushalt damit rechnen muss keinen Strom mehr zu bekommen, falls dort Drogen gehandelt werden. Auf meine Frage an meine Frau, wo den die Leute den Strom dann hernehmen sagte sie, vom Nachbarhaus, meist ist dies ja ein Verwanter und hilft.

Three arrested delivering meth pills to South

SURAT THANI -- Three men have been caught in this southern province while delivering 89,000 methamphetamine pills from Bangkok, destined for Narathiwat.

The three men and the drugs were taken to a press conference at Tha Chi police station in Ban Nasan district on Sunday morning.

Pol Lt Gen Thesa Siriwatho, the Region 8 Provincial Police chief, identified the three as Manapi Sulong, 49, Saiful Bahari Chedo, 28, and Ruslan Ladeng, 38, all from Rangae district of Narathiwat.

The three were stopped for a search at Moo 1 village in tambon Nam Phu of Ban Nasan district on Sunday at 7.30am while travelling past a checkpoint in two cars. The police found in the second car 89,600 speed pills.

According to Pol Lt Gen Thesa, they confessed to having been hired by an unidentified man for 50,000 baht to deliver the drugs from Bangkok to Narathiwat.

Smuggler caught, big drug seizure in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI- A 41-year-old man has been arrested while trying to smuggle over one million methamphetamine pills into the country via Mae Chan district of this northern border province.

Local police and border patrol officers stopped a grey Isuzu pickup truck with a Chiang Rai licence plate for a search late Wednesday night, acting on information smugglers would move drugs into Thailand from the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Sai district via Mae Chan district.

The search found five fertiliser sacks inside the pickup. The sacks contained 1'128'000 speed pills wrapped in black plastic, Pol Col Thatthanasorn Chutharat, chief of Mae Chan police, said at a media briefing on Thursday.

The driver, Charoen Chumchan, 41, of Chiang Mai, was arrested and charged with having illicit drugs in his possession with intent to sell.

Police were extending the investigation to find more people involved.
